A workshop on General-Purpose and Server Operating Systems: Defining Security Architecture, Standards, and Certification Pathways was held on August 10, 2026, at Royal Global University, Guwahati, bringing together experts from industry, academia, startups and government to deliberate on the development of secure, indigenous and self-reliant operating systems for India. The workshop focused on OS architecture and design, kernel and security enhancements, software ecosystem and application compatibility, cloud and virtualization, interoperability, standards compliance, performance testing and certification pathways.

Shri Hariprakash Govindarajalu, Founder and CTO of Logic Research Labs, delivered a talk on “Digital Sovereignty through Indigenous Hypervisor Technologies.” He highlighted the strategic importance of indigenous virtualization technologies in strengthening India’s digital sovereignty and building secure, resilient infrastructure. The workshop also featured discussions on sovereign OS stacks, secure server operating systems, zero-trust architecture, open-source technologies, AI/ML, post-quantum cryptography and the requirements of different stakeholders, culminating in recommendations and a roadmap for the way forward.
